pretty pictures: betsy walton

i've been looking for new prints for our epic wall of pictures and paintings (which is hugely lacking in both right now) and stumbled across betsy walton on arthound. i love these watercolor "landscapes".. there's something botanical about them to which i'm really drawn.

featured! 100 Layer Cake

when i got the opportunity to finally work with one of my favorite nyc photographers (and dear friend) trent bailey, i jumped on the opportunity to collaborate! and then, we i met for coffee and breakfast with one of the cutest-couples-in-all-the-land, RG and Lisa, well i knew we'd have one heck of a day shooting their engagement. we decided on a bohemian urban campsite on a rooftop in brooklyn and one of my all-time favorite wedding blogs, 100 Layer Cake, is featuring the results today. go check it out!

trent is a seriously amazing photographer and a really lovely person, so if you have any photographic needs, he should be at the top of your list. i can't recommend him enough!

hello, cuteness!

um, what rock have i been living under that i JUST TODAY discovered cupcakes & cashmere? no, really, where have i been?! there were lots of important things i was supposed to accomplish this evening. instead i made a list of how i can slowly turn myself into a replica of the blog's editor, emily. on the list? neon nails, orange scented scones, long sleeved lace top, poms in the office and some wicked beach hair.  hot damn, the girl's adorable! check out her blog for recipes, seriously rad outfits, how-tos and one adorable cali house.. and also for a dose of real life-envy.

tie it up in ribbon

i was just tickled to be part of a creative team featured on ruffled yesterday with a shoot we produced just as spring started edging its way into existence in march. i got pulled in to style the shoot a mere 36 hours before the big day, so i immediately went about setting up an inspiration board based on their original vision. here's how it turned out:
we wanted something with teals and golds and warm, muted tones. i loved the natural vision with pops of ethereal goodness. to keep things on budget, i focused my energy on including ribbons in the color palette to highlight but not cover up the amazing venue, alder manor. naturally delicious brought in amazing, rustic food, the white gown provided stunning dresses (oh, that tulle, that tulle!) and the amazing lauren over at lo & co made our sweet models downright gorgeous. here are some peeks..

be sure to check out the whole shoot, shot by the amazing amazing amazing duo lindsay hite and jacqueline schlossman of readyluck, on ruffled! there's soooooo much more over there, and it's all good... if i do say so myself. xx

PORTFOLIO: Glitz + Glitter Love Shoot

I've been itching to share this stylized shoot I designed as part of a collaboration with Wren & Field Photography. Remember this inspiration board?  I was noticing lots of sweet and delicate Valentine's inspired inspiration in blogland so I was hoping to provide some edgier, glitzier ideas.

We started with the rustic locale of One Shot Cafe in Northern Liberties, Philadelphia. We countered the cafe's wood walls and natural aesthetic with lots of high-shine gold and bright, vibrant pinks. I found those vintage gold mugs the day before the shoot and was instantly smitten...
Anne & Kate designed all the paper goods, including those adorable custom valentines. They were perforated on the edge so you could send your high-school-style response back in style in a teensy tinsy envelope.
Keeping on our glammed up casual coffee date concept, I designed a Cupcake and Cocoa Bar, where you could dress your sweet drink with sugar cubes, marshmallows, and sprinkles. Aren't those cupcakes the sweetest? I love the toppers and the wrappers made by Anne & Kate.  Of course, they didn't last too long after we wrapped for the day...

Of course, I couldn't pass up an opportunity to customize a little photobooth for our adorable models! Made out of tissue paper and fabric scraps, it was the perfect way to highlight some more adorable outfits. It goes without saying that this will most certainly play a major role in my next party.

I was so happy to work with amazing talent on this shoot: Emily and Cassidy of Wren & Field Photography, Jennie of Love 'n Fresh Flowers, Anne & Kate's paper goods were spot on, and Josie DiCarlo and Jessica Pineda had our models George and Blair looking spectacular!
We were honored to be featured on Ruffled yesterday as part of their Valentine's Day extravaganza, so to check out more photos, swing by there or drop me a line! Now, go kiss somebody.

kraft paper smooch fest

my love affair for all things kraft paper is almost indecent, so to say that these valentines tickle my fancy is a major understatement. next year, i vow to host an old-school valentine's day party where we'll make mailboxes out of oatmeal boxes and all my friends have to bring valentines to pass out to the whole party. it may be a little self-serving to insure i get as much love as possible, but group love is the best love, no?

robocop faces illness with a strong hand

i went online to seek the perfect photo to represent how terrible i feel. i thought for sure there'd be a picture of a dude with a fishbowl over his head, so i typed that in. this is what i got:
i think that'll suffice. let's chatter later when i regain the use of my face.
